10 of the Best B2B Facebook Timeline Cover Photos
Fri, Mar 30, 2012
Hope you didn’t oversleep this morning, because if you manage a Facebook Business or Brand Page for your B2B company today is the day that the timeline goes live, whether you are ready or not. One month ago, Facebook announced the Page changes, and you had the whole month to get your Page in line. And you were able to launch the update any time during the past month.
Many B2B companies have already launched their new timeline updates. The most important functional update for many Page managers is the ability to privately message their fans, after the fan has messaged the Page first. But the most visual update in the timeline is the Cover Photo. This is an 851 pixel wide image that gives B2B companies a great opportunity to make an impact with the Page.
Below are 10 of the best examples that I have seen, and they are divided into three categories: product images, inspirational photos and illustrations. If you don’t have an existing image that works for this dynamic space, find someone either inside your company or outside of it that can help you create one.
One last thing before moving on to the cover photos. If you are still planning and preparing your B2B timeline page, here is an awesome Facebook resource post with everything you need to know.

Have you updated your B2B Facebook Page to get ready for today’s roll out of the new timeline? Have you seen other great Cover Photos that you want to share in the comments? And yes, you can share your own Page if you are proud of it.

These are fantastic, Jeff!
I think that TowerCo also did a very nice job with theirs: https://www.facebook.com/TowerCo
We just updated ours yesterday and I think it looks very nice and professional.

None of these are particularly impressive to me. They aren’t utilizing the benefits of the layout, they don’t have any call to action, and they just look like the same generic stuff you’d see on any corporate website. Why are so few B2B companies willing to experiment with something exciting?
Fanta (https://www.facebook.com/fanta?ref=ts) and esurance (https://www.facebook.com/Esurance) – while not B2B companies – are both doing incredible things. Their pages speak to the network, they utilize the provided layout, and they create visual interest. Nothing says B2B has to be boring.
I like parts of the new timeline… what I don’t like is the two-column view — its harder to manage. I’m also waiting for the kinks to be worked out so I can expand the Welcome tab on our page. http://www.facebook.com/truworld

Ogilvy has the reputation as one of the most creative agencies — at least under its famous founder David Ogilvy whose image is shown in the inset. But what does am image of an office building do for them? I think the site is totally lacking in creativity and I’m surprised you chose it.
PayLane, an online payments processor, has also started using the new FB. We created not only a new cover photo, but also custom tabs

I truly think CGC Comics did an outstanding job and deserves recognition for the creative use of their layout. And they plan to regularly feature different comics using the profile picture! Outstanding.

Great List! I think there are a lot more great products or services that have some awesome timelines. Not sure how you were able to narrow it down but I think you picked some strong profiles. Thanks for sharing

Tim, it is against the Facebook TOS to create a call to action timeline photo.
Hey Tim-
Good points, except Facebook cover photos can’t have any calls to action according to their guidelines.

Without a doubt, PayLane has the best designed and executed Timeline image shown on this page or listed in the comments. It’s engaging, friendly and welcoming – very social – well done PayLane.
I actually made a decision to upload a new one every month. The approach for me is a not so pushy ad. People want to be inspired. As its said “a picture is worth a thousand words”, if done correctly.

The top 10 in the blog had pretty pictures but they failed to do anything conceptual with the space provided.
I thought this B2B Facebook page was a great example of what’s possible:

I’ve used the cover from my catalogue but I’m working on a new one which will go live in the next few weeks.
