LinkedIn, Social Networks

Buffer

B2B companies now have the ability to share updates with their followers on LinkedIn. This is the first company page functionality that LinkedIn added that would be more effective with additional followers. Based on executive remarks, more functions are coming to company pages. To make sure you are ready, here are five ways to increase the number of followers of your company on LinkedIn.

1. Write a blog post
The best way to draw attention to your LinkedIn company page and increase your followers is to write a blog post about LinkedIn in your industry and include a link to your company page. The post is not just a follow my company post, but one that provides some value. It could be the 10 top Groups in your industry or a how-to article about growing your business using LinkedIn.

2. Add a Widget to Your Website
LinkedIn-Company-Profile-WidgetLinkedIn provides an easy way to create a company profile widget that you can put on your website or blog. This should go in a sidebar, or another part of your site that is always visible.

3. Add Company Page Link to Your Email Signature
Email is still the preferred communication medium for most businesses, so don’t miss the opportunity to include a link to your LinkedIn company page at the end of each message. Encourage other employees to do the same.

4. Add Company Page Link to Your Group Post Signature
LinkedIn power users know that their interaction in LinkedIn Groups facilitate connections that lead to business on the social network. Rather than sign your Group messages with a link to your website, try a link to your company page instead. People in LinkedIn are more likely to view a page in LinkedIn than to leave to go look at your website.

5. Promote on Other Social Media Profiles
You should promote your presence on one social media site on other social media sites. Tweet a link to your LinkedIn company page. Post it on Facebook too. You need to make sure everyone in your universe is aware of this page. There is certainly more value to come from these company pages.

What are other ways you are planning to share your LinkedIn company page to get more followers?

  1. Jeffrey, Thanks for the great advise! Sometimes my LinkedIn company page (http://www.linkedin.com/company/2117479?trk=pro_selfown_cmpy) becomes the forgotten child. You are absolutely right in that I should be promoting it as much as any other profile or website I may have.
    Cheers, Regina

Nice piece. Linkedin is working hard in Facebook’s slipstream right now and is adding new features pretty much every week. Particularly like items 1 & 2 and am looking to jump on them this week!

    Great post Jeffrey,

Love the 3rd method, as it’s something I completely overlooked. A simple change, but potentially a big impact, as I’m always sending emails.

    Thanks for sharing.

Nice post Jeffrey. Some great tips to increase your company page followers. We have found LinkedIn to be super effective for B2B lead generation. The tips in your post are much appreciated as increasing your following base can be both challenging and rewarding if successful. In fact, according to the recent B2B Social Media Marketing study, when B2B Marketers were asked to choose the most important method that they use for their social outreach, LinkedIn was the clear leader, chosen by 30% of respondents. Following it were Facebook at 20%, blogging at 19%, Twitter at 16% and YouTube at8%. This also coincides with data from a HubSpot study with data from 5198 businesses which showed that LinkedIn generated the highest visitor-to-lead conversion rate at 2.74%, almost 3 times higher (277%) than both Twitter (.69%) and Facebook (.77%). Thanks for sharing.

Great article and really simplifies what we all need to do to keep our LinkedIn pages moving up the charts.

I know like Regina, my page (although new) at http://www.linkedin.com/company/kjn-arts is already forgotten at times with so many Social Media outlets available now and LinkedIn only just started to really get artist-friendly.

Behance is a huge boost for the artistic companies out there and connects great to LinkedIn.

  6. Yes, very nice Jeffrey as I have done all this and lots more. For the past year and a half I’ve been spending between 4-6 hours, or sometimes more, a day doing online marketing. Our kids are grown and on their own so I have nothing better to do and now that I see the rewards its fuel to keep going. 40% of our work is now coming from the Internet and it amazes me that more don’t do it. I still have to sell the service but its getting my foot in the door. Good luck to all.

    Thank you Jeffrey

    Quick question….

I am the admin for New Hope for Kids. Is there a way to request followers? The way you invite someone to connect on your personal page?

Thanks in advance for your assistance

I run a niche legal site and sadly LinkedIn is seen as the platform of choice for lawyers. I do have a company page (http://www.linkedin.com/company/defero-law. Couldn’t resist) but often feel that I’m driving traffic to the competition by flagging it in the manner you’ve suggested.

  9. Hi Jeffrey,

Very great post with excellent and insightful information. Thanks for sharing. I like the way you presented the information in this blog..All the tips that you gave regarding increasing linkedin followers were very informative & i’ll definitely use it.

  10. Alok says:

Is the any way to reduce the width of the company profile widget? I can’t see it in the code.

  11. Jessica says:

I recently just created a company page for two divisions of our business.( http://www.linkedin.com/company/brewery-insurance-program?trk=hb_tab_compy_id_2779644 and http://www.linkedin.com/company/milestone-risk-management-&-insurance-services?trk=hb_tab_compy_id_510932). These tips will come in handy as I try and generate followers. Thanks for the information!

  12. Hi Jeffrey,

I went through the above written post & liked it in some extent, but the only thing I’m a bit doubtful about, how can one add company page as signature and in what extent one can expect the probability of getting click on it.

At this point, I think people would more want to divert their traffic towards the website only. Isn’t it?

  13. Aaron says:

    Hi Jeffery,

Thank you for the useful information. It’s a bit of challenge garnering followers for our LinkedIn company page – at least compared to making connections with my personal profile.

It would seem there should be a way to connect with businesses and individuals similar to personal pages.

I also agree with the comment above about not wanting to drive traffic to other sites, etc., by posting their links in my updates. Some may see me/us as a valuable resource by posting content and then follow us, but the majority seem to read the snippet, click the link, and leave to read the full story.

    Cheers
