Follow Your B2B LinkedIn Connections on Twitter

One of the things that makes Twitter so unique is the ability to subscribe to someone’s posts because of the relevance of their content. You don’t have to have worked with them, attended college with them, or even ever met them at all. The content can come first and the relationship can come second. Twitter is a great way to meet other people who are interested in the same things you are, or work in the same industry.
On the other hand, if you are using Twitter in the B2B space, wouldn’t it be nice to have your Twitter followers be the people that you know and trust in business the most?
Over my career I have carefully added colleagues, supervisors and business contacts to my LinkedIn account. In a few simple steps you can easily add your LinkedIn connections to the list of people you follow on Twitter and really improve some of these important business relationships by interacting with your LinkedIn contacts in a new way.

1. Log in to your LinkedIn account. Go to your Connections page. At the bottom of the page click on Export Connections
2. Export your connections in Microsoft Outlook (.csv)
3. Save the exported file on your computer
4. Log into a free email account you have (either Gmail, Yahoo or AOL)
5. Import the .csv from LinkedIn into your email contacts
6. Log into your Twitter account, click on Find People and then Find Friends

7. Choose the email addresses you uploaded the LinkedIn connections to
8. Enter the username and password of that email address
9. Click on Find Friends
10. Choose which of your LinkedIn connections you want to follow on Twitter
Twitter can be a great marketing and sales retention tool in the B2B space. What better way to utilize it than have your most trusted LinkedIn connections a part of your Twitter stream.
